25 Police officers complete Marine Basic Course

Twenty-five police officers completed a two-month Marine Basic Course conducted in Lake Kivu. The basic course introduces trainees to elementary First Aid, swimming, water survival and rescue, fire safety, Police ethics and conduct, seamanship, water navigation and engine familiarization, among others.

The Marine Police Commanding Officer, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Erias Mwesigye, thanked the trainees for their discipline and determination throughout the course.

“Without discipline, the rest could be nothing. Implement what you learned with discipline and professionalism,” ACP Mwesigye said. He reminded them that this is the baseline for more marine training to improve their maritime skills. (End)
