Kigali: The 14th Kigali Agricultural Show is being held at Mulindi Agricultural Showground, in Gasabo District, Kigali City from 18th to 25 June 2019. Officiated by Dr Gerardine Mukeshimana Minister, Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources (MINAGRI) together with the Minister of Local Government Shyaka Anastase, this year’s agriculture show is held under theme: “Promoting Competitiveness of Rwandan Agriculture.”
This year’s AgriShow has attracted about 370 exhibitors from more than 20 countries. The event is a platform that brings together individual farmers’ organizations, financial service providers, insurances, agricultural products and equipment companies, international exhibitors and other local and international agricultural agencies to exchange information, experiences and an opportunity for the development of agribusinesses.
In line with this Year’s theme, the 14 Agrishow presents some of technological Agriculture and livestock solutions. Those include National Agriculture Insurance scheme, a subsidized Crop and Livestock Insurance by the government of Rwanda, Caravan project, a soil fertility mapping project under the good bilateral relations between Rwanda and Morocco, use of drones in Agriculture, and many more.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Agrishow, Minister of Agriculture and Animal Resources, Dr Gerardine Mukeshimana, called upon Rwandan farmers to take sustainable measures to increase competitiveness in global markets while ensuring better quality produce.
“To keep up the momentum, we should put much efforts in modernizing our farming activities to ensure food security and surplus for the market,” said Minister Mukeshimana.
The Kigali AgriShow has been held for 13 times and gradually developed into one of the greatest influence in agribusiness development. Aiming to prosper and flourish business and technology transfer in agriculture while focussing on participation, exchange, forum, making trade talks, scientific and agricultural commercial exchange activities.
