Rwanda-based Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Hazza Alqahtani is also his country’s non-resident Ambassador to the DRC and works to open doors of the DRC to Emirati investors.
This is what the Emirati diplomat said in an interview with the Rwanda News Agency (RNA) after returning from a week-long mission in the DRC where he presented his credentials to President Félix -Antoine Tshisekedi.
“My mission is to strengthen good relations between the UAE and the DRC in order to open the doors of the DRC to Emirati investors in all sectors of the DRC. My duty is to have a very good relationship between the UAE and the new leadership of the DRC,”said Ambassador Hazza Alqahtani.
He added that he plans to invite DRC companies to target the potential for cooperation with the UAE in all sectors.
“We are now in negotiations for the management of the Port of Banana which connects the capital Kinshasa to the Atlantic Ocean. Our cooperation with the DRC will strengthen the tourism and hospitality sectors, the mining sector and energy. We can help the DRC with solar energy. We have a lot of agreements pending to be finalized and signed in the protection of investments”, continued Ambassador Hazza Alqahtani.
He informed that he is the first non-resident UAE Ambassador to the DRC, and that there was no one before him.
“I will regularly make many trips to the DRC as part of my mission. We have very good relationship with the DRC where we plan to open a new Embassy within the next year. So far, in this framework of strengthening trade between the UAE and the DRC, many Congolese regularly visit us and import goods from Dubai, “said the Emirati diplomat. (End)
