Rwanda’s Prime Minister, Dr. Ngirente Edouard has highlighted Expo 2020 in Dubai as a platform that will help countries showcase their uniqueness, as well as an opportunity to attract investors. He made the remarks on February 1, 2022, when Rwanda showed its activities at Expo 2020, during Rwanda National Day.
Raising the National flags of Rwanda and the United Arab Emirates, UAE, as well as singing the National Anthems of the two countries are the solemn gestures that started the ceremony.
The Minister of Tolerance of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, thanked Rwanda for its participation in Expo 2020.
“We are happy to welcome Rwanda, a country of a thousand hills, to this Fair. We are delighted to have this special contribution from Rwanda to highlight the advantages of your country across the world”.
Minister Cheikh Nahayan Mabarak said that Rwanda and his country have close ties based on cooperation in various fields, a relationship established by the Heads of State of the two countries.
“Our partnership will continue to expand at every level, from education, which we are focusing on today, to renewable energy, commerce and more.”
The Prime Minister, Dr. Ngirente Edouard, hailed the continued relationship between Rwanda and the United Arab Emirates. “Cooperation between our countries has resulted in a wide range of programs for knowledge development, knowledge exchange and productive cooperation in the development of trade and investment in various sectors of the economy,” he said.
The partnership has also resulted in investments in the construction sector with a strong focus on housing, transportation, tourism and hospitality and more. “Our countries cooperate in other areas, including floriculture, air transport, medical sector, industry, etc.”
Dr. Ngirente said that the Fair was above all a platform for Rwanda to showcase its best achievements in development to the world. “Dubai Expo 2020 is an important platform for governments and business leaders to come together and discuss how to attract investment. Those who want to invest in Rwanda are welcome,” he said.
Rwanda Day within Dubai Expo 2020 coincided with Rwanda’s celebration of Heroes’ Day, which is observed on February 1st.
Prime Minister Dr. Ngirente Edouard said that the fact that the country has been rebuilding for 27 years is due to the way it seeks to find solutions that have enabled Rwanda to move forward. “It just came to our knowledge at that time.
Prime Minister Dr. Ngirente told participants at Rwanda National Day in Dubai that Rwanda is the second country in Africa to facilitate investors.
Rwanda’s economy is expected to grow at a rate of 7.2% in 2022; 7.9% in 2023; and 7.5% in 2024.
Prime Minister Dr. Ngirente Edouard continued: “One of the lessons we have learned from the Covid-19 outbreak is the importance of collaboration, innovation and teamwork. We hope this will help our countries deal with the spread of Covid-19 and its negative impact on the global economy. That’s why I welcome visitors to our “pavilion” to learn about investment opportunities in technology and innovation, financial services, education, healthcare, renewable energy and more.”
He also congratulated the United Arab Emirates for their preparations for Expo 2020, and he praised the good relations of this country with Rwanda and the way in which the Rwandan delegation was received. (End)
