Thirty-five Police officers completed the 7th intake of the Instructional Technology Course (ITC) at the Police Training School (PTS) Gishari, on Friday, September 29.
The 12-week training is one of the courses designed to develop qualified trainers able to carry out job analysis for training, design courses, conduct and evaluate courses.
The Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) in charge of Administration and Personnel, Jeanne Chantal Ujeneza, while officially closing the course, said that training is a priority of Rwanda National Police.
“Without proper planning for training, conduct and evaluation, our officers cannot perform to the expected standards. Training is a profession and a tool used to shape character, caliber and future of individuals, families, institutions and nations,” DIGP Ujeneza said.
She added that the ITC and other training programmes are vital to produce professional and competent trainers required at the RNP schools and college to provide quality training and turn them into centers of reference to handle both regional and international security affairs.
She congratulated the graduates for successfully completing the course, adding that the skills and knowledge acquired are perishable if not properly utilized to shape the dynamic nature of the training career.
Learning, she said, is a continuous process but outlined humility, vigor, enthusiasm and discipline as driving tools to achieve institutional mission.
The PTS commandant, Commissioner of Police (CP) Robert Niyonshuti, said that the core mission of the school is to train and equip officers with the required knowledge, skills and right attitude to competently perform daily police duties in all circumstances. (End)
