Senators from the Upper House of the Federal Parliament of Somalia are in Rwanda for a benchmarking visit.
Their first port of call was a meeting with the Senate President Kalinda François Xavier and the Senate Vice Presidents Nyirasafari Espérance and Mukabaramba Alvera. They interacted on ways of promoting parliamentary diplomacy.
The objective of the visit is to provide an opportunity for the Somali delegates to engage in dialogue and learn from the experience of Rwandan Senators. The study tour consisted of high-level meetings with leaders of the Rwandan Senate in Kigali, the capital city.
Somalia and Rwanda share historic relations and the visit aims to strengthen the ties between the two countries. Somalia and Rwanda are both East African Nations. (End)
