Today, Rwanda’s Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Dr. Uzziel Ndagijimana, participated in the meeting of Ministers of Finance as part of the International Development Association(IDA21) Africa Heads of State and Government Summit taking place in Nairobi.
The meeting discussed what Africa can do to raise strong development returns from the Summit. The meeting, organized by the World Bank, is in preparation for the Heads of States Summit scheduled for tomorrow.
The International Development Association (IDA) is a part of the World Bank Group that provides interest-free loans and grants to the world’s poorest countries.
The IDA21 replenishment is a critical event for Rwanda, as it seeks to secure additional resources to support its development agenda and alleviate the country’s debt burden.
The Heads of States Summit, scheduled for tomorrow, will bring together leaders from various countries to discuss the progress made in the IDA21 replenishment process and to chart the way forward.
The participants will also study mechanisms for financing structuring projects, the implementation of which will make a major contribution to promoting social welfare in African countries.
The event will address issues related to the following themes: Challenges arising from climate change; job creation for youth; improving the lives of people in situations of fragility, conflict and violence; tax systems in promoting sustainable development; digitalization and universal access to energy, among others.
IDA21 Africa Heads of State and Government is co-hosted by the Government of Kenya and the World Bank. (End)
