UNMISS Force Commander visits Rwanda peacekeepers in Malakal

Malakal: The Force Commander of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), Lt. Gen. Mohan SUBRAMANIAN, along with a delegation from the UNMISS headquarters visited the Rwandan Peacekeepers (Rwanbatt-2) at their Base camp at Malakal and were welcomed by Lt Col Charles RUTAGISHA, the Rwanbatt-2 Contingent Commander.

The Rwanda Contingent Commander provided an update to the force commander on the current security situation and ongoing operations in Rwanbatt-2’s Area of Responsibility that covers Seven (07) counties out of the thirteen (13) counties that make up Upper Nile State.

The Force Commander appreciated the Rwandan peacekeepers for their efforts in protecting civilians and implementing the UNMISS mandate, particularly in protecting internally displaced people in the Malakal and Bunj areas. The Force Commander also commended the Rwanbatt-2 for their professionalism, commitment, and discipline urging them to continue their exemplary performance. . (End)
