Türkiye Embassy celebrates the Victory Day

RDF Spokesperson Brigadier General Ronald Rwivanga congratulated the Government of Türkiye on behalf of the Government of Rwanda

The Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Kigali yesterday evening celebrated the 102th anniversary of the Victory Day and the Turkish Armed Forces Day with a reception held on 30 August 2024.

Rwanda Defence Force Spokesperson Brigadier General Ronald Rwivanga, Military Attaché accredited to Rwanda, members of the Diplomatic Corps, representatives of Turkish institutions and Rwandans participated in the event.  

Victory Day marks the decisive victory of the Turkish Army in 1922 against the forces occupied the Turkish homeland following the First World War. This victory also paved the way to the proclamation of the Republic of Türkiye in 1923.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye, Aslan Alper Yüksel, during his speech highligted the fact that independence is a national characteristic for Turks. 

Ambassador Yüksel also stated that the Turkish Army is an important contributor to the security and stability in its region and beyond in many ways.

RDF Spokesperson Brigadier General Ronald Rwivanga congratulated the Government of Türkiye on behalf of the Government of Rwanda for this important day and commended the cooperation between Türkiye and Rwanda in the field of defence and security with many activities. Rwivanga also reiterated Rwanda’s committment to further strengthen its relations with Türkiye. 

Türkiye and Rwanda enjoy good relations also in this field. Ambassador Yüksel told that Rwanda is one of Türkiye’s cooperation partners in the field of defence and security in Africa and relevant Turkish and Rwandan Authorities are in regular contact in the context of ongoing cooperation programs.

Turkish Military Attaché Colonel Kerim Kabataş informed the guests on various cooperation activities between the two militaries.  

Recently, a high level delegation of Turkish Defence Industries visited Rwanda in June and the RDF delegation led by the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Mubarakh Muganga, participated in EFES-2024, a major multinational Combined Joint Live Firing Exercise in İzmir, Türkiye, in May. (End)
