Rwandan peacekeepers in Bria honoured with UN Medals for their service in CAR

Rwandan peacekeepers from Rwanda Battle Group VI and RWAMED IX Level 2+ Hospital under the UN Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) were awarded UN medals for their dedication to maintaining peace in CAR. The medal parade was held at Bria Base Camp, Sector East, Haute-Kotto Prefecture.

MINUSCA Force Chief of Staff, Brigadier General Simon Ndour, commended the Rwandan contingents for their professionalism, discipline, and positive contributions. He acknowledged the Rwanda Battle Group VI’s role in securing Bria, Ouadda, and Sam-Ouandja, and praised RWAMED IX for its medical services to both UN personnel and local residents.

Colonel Dr. Theogene Rurangwa, Commander of RWAMED IX, highlighted the peacekeepers’ efforts since their deployment in December 2023. Rwanda Battle Group VI conducted patrols, ensuring security and facilitating humanitarian work, while RWAMED IX provided healthcare services to more than 1,713 people, including 31 successful surgeries.

The event concluded with a cultural performance by the Rwandan peacekeepers, showcasing their traditional dance. (End)
