Colonel Stanislas Gashugi promoted and appointed Special Operations Force Commander

President Paul Kagame as the Commander in Chief of Rwanda Defense Force (RDF) has made changes in RDF leadership that saw Colonel Stanislas Gashugi promoted to the rank of Brigadier General and appointed Special Operations Force (SOF) Commander.

Brigadier General Stanislas Gashugi replaces Major General Ruki Karusisi who has been recalled to RDF Headquarters for deployment.

“His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Rwanda and Commander-In-Chief of The RDF, has promoted Col Stanislas Gashugi to the rank of Brigadier General and appointed him Special Operations Force (SOF) Commander, with immediate effect. Maj Gen Ruki Karusisi reports to RDF HQs for deployment”, said RDF in a statement released on Saturday, March 15.

Before his appointment, Brigadier General Stanislas Gashugi served as Head of Operations (Chief J3) of the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF).

Stanislas Gashugi has held several key positions within the RDF. In May 2021, he was promoted from Lieutenant Colonel to Colonel and appointed as the Defence Attaché to Tanzania.

These appointments are part of the ongoing efforts to strengthen the RDF’s leadership and operational readiness. (End)
