Gen(Rtd) Kabarebe briefs RDF Senior Command and staff course students and faculty

Gen (Rtd) James Kabarebe, Minister of State for Regional Integration, together with General MK Mubarakh, RDF Chief of Defence Staff, addressed students and faculty of the Senior Command and Staff Course (SCSC), Intake 13, at RDF Headquarters in Kimihurura. The briefing marked the conclusion of a five-day Rwanda Patriotic Army (RPA) Liberation War Study Tour.

During his remarks, Gen (Rtd) Kabarebe emphasized the significance of the study tour, noting that it had provided students with vital insights and information for their research. He underscored that Rwanda’s national security relies on the RDF’s readiness, an enduring quality that defined RPA soldiers during the Liberation War. He urged students to preserve and uphold that legacy in the face of foreign interference and emerging threats.

The tour formed part of the Military History Module and brought together students and the college leadership to explore the RPA Liberation War. Participants examined major battles and operational challenges faced by RPA commanders and extracted valuable lessons for future operations.

Throughout the tour, students participated in interactive sessions with a panel of RDF generals and senior officers who provided in-depth insights into the early stages of the war, which began on 1 October 1990 at Kagitumba. These discussions offered opportunities for critical engagement, allowing students to ask questions, clarify issues, and gain a deeper understanding of the planning, execution, and obstacles encountered during key military operations.
