Ambassador Claver Gatete of Rwanda presented his credential to Jamaica

Amb. Gatete presented virtually credentials to the Governor-General of Jamaica

Ambassador non-resident Claver Gatete presented virtually his Letters of Credence to Sir Patrick Allen, Governor-General of Jamaica, appointing him as High Commissioner of the Republic of Rwanda to Jamaica.

Ambassador Claver Gatete is resident in New York where he represents Rwanda to the UN. Sir Patrick Allen encouraged him to visit regularly Jamaica, reiterating the value that Jamaica places on its relations with Rwanda.

Amb. Gatete also held a meeting with Jamaican Minister of Foreign Affairs

Ambassador Claver Gatete also held a meeting with Kamina Johnson Smith, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Jamaica. They discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries. “We look forward to in-depth discussions on tourism promotion and development, the political consultation framework and bilateral exchange”, Minister Kamina Johnson Smith told the Rwandan High Commissioner-designate Mr. Gatete Claver, during his Credential presentation.

The virtual presentation precedes the arrival on Wednesday, April 13 of Rwandan President, Paul Kagame for his State Visit to Jamaica. That evening he and his delegation, including the ambassador-designate Claver Gatete, will also participate in the launch of Jamaica’s 60th Independence anniversary (End)
