Awareness campaign for World Food Day activities in Rwanda

The Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources (MINAGRI) is launching the awareness campaign for World Food Day (WFD 2024) activities in Rwanda.

The objective is to outline key messages for reversing malnutrition and stunting, and setting the tone for the awareness activities during the one-month period from 16th October to 15th November 2024, as part of the effort to promote nutritious food consumption and celebrate World Food Day 2024.

The World Food Day (WFD) is an international day celebrated annually in the month of October. On a global level, WFD is celebrated in 150 countries that are members of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

Celebration takes place on 16th of October or any other day around this time depending on each country’s convenience. This timing for celebration is rooted in the anniversary of FAO, created on 16th October 1945.

For this year, national celebration of WFD 2024 will be held in the Western Province, in Nyamasheke District, on 25th October 2024, under the theme “The Right to Foods for a better life and a better future’’, emphasizing the importance of ensuring access to safe, nutritious, and sustainable food for everyone.
