CAR President decorates Rwandan peacekeepers with the presidential medal of appreciation

Bangui: Rwandan peacekeepers (RWABATT12), serving under the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) were decorated with the Presidential Medal of appreciation by His Excellency the President of the Central African Republic, Mr. Faustin Archange TOUADERA. The ceremony was held at the presidential palace in the city of Bangui.

The medal decorated was awarded in recognition of their dedication, unwavering professionalism, and outstanding service during their Peace support operations in the Central African Republic (CAR), where they were engaged in protecting civilians. 

The Commanding Officer of RWABATT12, Lt. Col Joseph GATABAZI, expressed gratitude to the President of CAR for the support offered while implementing their mandate. He also commended the resilience displayed by the RWABATT12 troops in ensuring the security of the CAR President. 

The ceremony was attended by officials from the CAR government, the Head of Rwanda’s Diplomatic mission in the Central African Republic Mr. Olivier KAYUMBA, and members of the Rwandan community in the Central African Republic. (End)
