Kigali: Rwanda’s Junior Wasps lost to Uganda 3-0 in the final Group B match played on Sunday at Asmara stadium in Eritrea.
A brace from Kyeyune Abasi and Ouke Patrick earned the Ugandan side maximum points to cement their top place finish of Group B with 12 points.
Coach Yves Rwasamanzi who fielded a second string side finished the group stage ranked second with nine points having won three matches and lost once.
In the semi-final stage due on Wednesday, August 28, Rwanda will face Kenya who finished top of Group A with 10 points in the first semi-final match while Uganda will be up against Burundi who finished second of the group in the second semi-final match of the day.
The winners will proceed to the final slated for Friday, August 30 which will be graced by the President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Ahmad Ahmad.
The Cecafa U-15 Challenge Cup, the first of it’s kind in Africa has been funded by FIFA. The tournament has attracted hosts Eritrea, Burundi, Kenya, Sudan, Somalia, Uganda, Rwanda, South Sudan, Ethiopia and Tanzania. (End)
