Chinese Ambassador Wang Xuekun meets with the new Rwanda Interior Minister

Wang Xuekun, Chinese Ambassador to Rwanda, met with Dr. Vincent Biruta, the new Minister of Interior of Rwanda. Senior Captain (Navy) Li Dayi, Chinese Defence Attaché to Rwanda, joined the meeting.

Ambassador Wang Xuekun expressed appreciation to Dr. Vincent Biruta for his important contribution to promoting the development of China-Rwanda bilateral relations during his position as Foreign Minister, and looks forward to working further together, for deepened China-Rwanda cooperation in various areas including security cooperation, so as to advance China-Rwanda friendship.

Minister Biruta spoke highly of the bilateral relationship between Rwanda and China. He reiterated Rwanda’s firm stance for the one-China principle, and expressed his willingness to actively promote exchanges and cooperation between the two countries in his new position, explore new areas of cooperation, especially in security areas, and promote the in-depth development of bilateral relations. 

The security authorities of Rwanda will continue to protect the safety and legitimate rights of Chinese citizens in Rwanda. The two sides also exchanged views on matters of common concern. (End)
