The Chinese Embassy in Rwanda held a reception welcoming the first Chinese Defence Attaché to Rwanda, Captain (Navy) Li Dayi. Major General Jean Baptiste Ngiruwonsanga, Commandant of the General Headquarters of Rwanda Defense Forces (RDF), representatives of the Rwandan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Rwanda National Police, as well as foreign Defence Attachés and diplomats accredited to Rwanda attended the event.
In his speech, Ambassador Wang Xuekun commended the achievements of China-Rwanda defence cooperation, and extended warm welcome to Capt. Dayi’s assumption of office, and said that Captain’s rich military diplomatic experiences will further promote China-Rwanda defence cooperation and cooperation in other spheres as well. China is willing to work with all parties to actively implement the Global Security Initiative and jointly move towards a better tomorrow of lasting peace and universal security.
On behalf of the RDF, Maj. Gen. Ngiruwonsanga welcomed Capt. Dayi to assume his office. The General sincerely thanked China for its strong support to the development of Rwanda’s national defence and the build-up of military. Rwanda is willing to continue to deepen the relationship between the two militaries and contribute to regional peace and stability.
Captain Li Dayi said he was honored to serve as the first Chinese Defence Attaché to Rwanda. He would do his utmost to promote pragmatic cooperation between the two militaries to a new level and to help the China-Rwanda friendly and cooperative ties achieve new results. (End)
