Defence Attachés accredited to Rwanda yesterday held a security briefing at Rwanda Defence Force Headquarters, Kimihurura. They were briefed on Rwanda’s internal and external security situation, updates on RDF bilateral engagements in Mozambique and the Central African Republic and RDF participation in peacekeeping operations.
In line with the celebration of National Heroes Day, the Defence Attachés were also taken on a tour of the Liberation Trail.
The briefing was organised by the RDF-International Military Cooperation Department and involved 29 Defence Attachés and Associates representing Algeria, Belgium, Botswana, Canada, Czech Republic, Egypt, The European Union, France, Germany, Italy, ICRC, Japan, The Republic of Korea, The Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Sweden, Tanzania, Turkiye, Uganda, United Kingdom, USA and Zimbabwe.
The President of Defence Attachés Association, Col GS Didier Calmant from Belgium said that, “it is a rare opportunity to exchange views on security challenges, this time combined with a unique experience of touring Rwanda’s Liberation Trail”.
RDF organises Defence Attachés Security Briefings periodically to provide the opportunity to resident and non-resident DAs to meet and exchange views on current security dynamics at national, regional and international level with a view to enhance cooperation between Defence and security forces.
