Kigali: The World Bank Chief Executive Officer, Kristalina Georgieva(photo), will visit Rwanda on November 9-10, 2018. During her visit, she will meet President Kagame to discuss Rwanda’s development achievements and how the World Bank can continue to support further progress.

Dr. Georgieva will also participate in the launch of The Future Drivers of Growth in Rwanda report, a study jointly initiated by the World Bank Group and the Government of Rwanda. Rwanda is the first country in Sub-Saharan Africa to have this kind of high-level joint study with the World Bank. Similar joint studies have previously undertaken with the governments of China and Vietnam.

Building on a key theme of the Future Drivers of Growth report, Dr. Georgieva will visit the University of Rwanda’s College of Science and Technology to give introductory remarks to a public lecture on the World Bank’s Human Capital Project. She will be accompanied by Annette Dixon, Vice President Human Development, who will give the main lecture; and Hafez Ghanem, World Bank Vice President for Africa.

While in Rwanda, Dr. Georgieva will also visit the Genocide Memorial Center as well as the Isange One Stop Center in Kacyiru that provides support to victims of sexual and gender-based violence. (End)
