Rwanda National Police (RNP) has reassured that security will continue to be maintained to ensure the safety of people participating in this year’s expo.
RNP spokesperson, Commissioner of Police (CP) John Bosco Kabera made the remarks during the official opening of the 24th annual Rwanda International Trade Fair (RITF) at Gikondo Expo Ground in Kicukiro District.
The Minister of Trade and Industry, Béata Habyarimana presided over the official opening of Expo 2021.
“Like other trade fairs held before, safety and security will continue to define the trade fair in Rwanda as it is across our country. A police post has been established here and firefighting trucks deployed to attend to any security emergency. People should feel free and safe to take part in the expo,” CP Kabera said.
He, however, called for maximum compliancy with the government Covid-19 prevention health guidelines.
Minister Habyarimana said the trade fair is the good opportunity to revamp businesses which were affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
“We have received many delegations and exhibitors from many other countries despite of the current Covid-19 pandemic challenges. This is an opportunity to revive businesses and further streamline the market potential,” said Minister Habyarimana.
She thanked delegations from DR Congo and Mozambique who are participating in the Expo for the first time.
“This provide another platform to promote trade between our countries,” the Minister said.
Robert Bapfakurera, the PSF chairman said that the trade fair was well prepared and urged the public to turn up in big number.
“We have adopted technology in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19 pandemic. Tickets are paid and issued online, we have a Covid-19 testing centre established by Rwanda Biomedical Centre (RBC) for those with no prior Covid-19 test,” Bapfakurera said.(End)
