Rwanda’s Foreign Minister, Vincent Biruta
Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Vincent Biruta represented Rwanda at the G77 & China Leaders’ Summit on Climate Change held during the ongoing COP28 World Climate Action Summit in Dubai, today.
Minister Vincent Biruta delivered a statement at the G77 and China Leaders’ Summit on the margins of COP28 in Dubai. In his remarks, he highlighted that all the countries had a significant stake in enlarging the ambition and accelerating the implementation of the commitments and pledges made for climate action.
While emphasizing the need to keep the goal of 1.5 degree Celsius alive, Foreign Minister Vincent Biruta called for the restructuring of the international financial architecture to allow the fiscal space vulnerable nations need to tackle climate change.
The G77+China is a group of developing and emerging countries representing 80 percent of the world’s population. During COP28, the Group of 77 held the G77 and China Summit and invited leaders of developing countries to attend. (End)
