It is undeniable that the world is undergoing a real digital revolution, characterized by the rapid growth of information and communication technologies, we see transformative advancements reshaping our world and influencing every aspect of our daily lives and industries. This digital evolution opens up exciting prospects for a future driven by digital tools and innovations that enhance human endeavours.
In this fast-paced digital age, it’s crucial to keep abreast of and engage with technological revolutions. Africa is actively participating in this transformative process, embracing new digital innovations, learning from global best practices, and reaping the benefits of technological advancements.
Africa showcases vast potential and resources conducive to its integration into this dynamic digital realm, positioning itself as a burgeoning hub on the continental landscape. The staging of GITEX Africa Morocco in Marrakech underscores this commitment to establishing a significant presence in the global competitive tech arena.
Scheduled to take place from May 29 to 31 in Marrakech, GITEX Africa Morocco 2024 is the premier event for technology and innovation in Africa. Placed under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI May God Assist Him, this important event is organized under the authority of the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, in partnership with the Digital Development Agency (ADD), and Kaoun International. This event serves as a crucial platform for digital growth and entrepreneurial advancement, showcasing Morocco’s dedication to positioning Africa as a leading destination for digital innovation.
The Digital Development Agency (ADD) plays a pivotal role in the successful execution of this landmark event. It’s notable that on October 12, 2022, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, a memorandum of understanding was signed between ADD and Dubai World Trade Center / KAOUN International to host the African edition of GITEX Global, marking its first expansion outside of Dubai after over four decades in the UAE.
ADD is committed to fostering digital development within the nation, promoting digital adoption across public and private sectors, and nurturing a new digital culture in administration, commerce, and society. The agency actively supports innovative entrepreneurship, skill development, and human capital growth through collaborative efforts with various stakeholders.
During the inaugural GITEX Africa Morocco, ADD took the opportunity to demonstrate the commitment of public institutions to hastening the digitization of public services and to highlight the potential of innovative Moroccan enterprises through exhibits and academic sessions. These platforms allowed Moroccan professionals and emerging talents to share their skills and knowledge in cutting-edge digital fields.
This engagement provided these participants with extensive exposure, access to global markets, and opportunities to network with potential investors and industry influencers.
For its second edition, the excitement and interest from the start-up ecosystem have noticeably increased. Under the initiative named “Morocco 200,” 200 Moroccan start-ups have been chosen to take part in this international affair, with the Ministry of Digital Transition and Digital Reform and ADD covering 95% of their participation costs.
Additionally, GITEX Africa Morocco enjoys the backing of several institutional partners such as ANRT, ONDA, OCP, RAM, ONCF, and CGEM, all contributing to the event’s success and elevating Morocco’s status on the international stage.
The hosting of GITEX Africa Morocco by the Kingdom of Morocco significantly highlights the nation’s role in fostering and enhancing partnerships with other African nations across various sectors, in line with the High Directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, advocating for diversified and sustainable South-South cooperation.
By prioritizing new technologies and innovations in its projects, ADD, under the authority of the Ministry and in partnership with strategic allies, views GITEX Africa Morocco as an essential challenge, mobilizing all resources to establish an inclusive and sustainable digital strategy for responsible digital transformation.
