At the UR (University of Rwanda) Headquarters took place a handover ceremony between the outgoing acting Principal Dr. Rutayisire Pierre Claver and the incoming acting Principal Dr. Nkurunziza Joseph.
In his remarks, the outgoing principal expressed gratitude to his colleagues and Senior management for the support provided to him during the leadership of the College. “I have really been happy with the support from you Colleagues in this one year and a half leadership but also the support I got from senior management. They have really been a guide in all the activities we undertook “. I promise to always be part of CBE, he added.
The incoming acting principal Dr. Nkurunziza Joseph remarks included among others his request to the senior management to support different activities put in place for achieving quality teaching, research & community service. He also pointed out that UR needs to attract international students and the College will get there by reviewing programs to meet different objectives of the nation and the global needs to increase visibility. “We will put much efforts increasing quality teaching because it is one of the main purpose of the University so that we can contribute to the development of the nation, ” he added.
Dr. Ndikumana Raymond, the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Strategic Planning and Administration who spoke on behalf of the Vice Chancellor thanked the outgoing principal for his achievements at UR and wished him blessings in his new endeavor. To the incoming principal, the DVC SPA highlighted that the College of Business and Economics should raise quality and involvement.
“We need to build the College of Business and Economics of the UR that reflects and supports the Rwanda Vision and ambitions. Therefore, we need to go beyond the normal teaching, research, community service and even beyond the number of the centers of long life run.”, said Dr. Ndikumana.
Dr. Nkurunziza is a member of Academic staff who was also serving as the Dean of the school of Economics located in UR Huye Campus. (End)
