Thirty-three Police officers completed the ninth intake of the Instructional Technology Course (ITC) which concluded at the Police Training School (PTS) Gishari in Rwamagana District.
The Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) in charge of Operations, Vincent Sano presided over the pass-out of the 12-week training.
The Deputy Police Chief congratulated the trainees for the successful completion course but challenged them to maximize the acquired knowledge and skills to add value to the force’s services and behavior change.
“Learn more and apply what you have acquired to execute your responsibilities to shape the RNP officers. Uphold humility, enthusiasm, discipline, self-improvement and remain focused on your core mandate,” DIGP Sano said.
Capacity building, he added, is among the top priorities of Rwanda National Police and that training is an invaluable tool that shapes attitude and institutional doctrine.
“Without proper planning for training, training conduct and evaluation; our officers cannot perform to the expected standards because we all perform as we have been trained,” DIGP Sano said.
Training, he said, also instills the sense of attachment to the organization, increases productivity, and contributes to operational effectiveness and adaptability to the changing nature of the working environment.
The PTS Commandant, Commissioner of Police (CP) Robert Niyonshuti, said that various instructional courses have been conducted at the School, managers’ course, ITC, and Methods of Instruction (MOI) course.
He added that the instructional courses have produced 225 qualified trainers and instructors, who are deployed in RNP schools, colleges and units.
During the 12 weeks, trainees acquired skills in course design, general instructional methods, evaluation of training, research methodology, development of instructional aids, psychology of learning and effective communication, among others. (End)
