This afternoon, President Kagame sees off His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, as he concludes his visit to Rwanda,
“Grateful to my dear friend President Paul Kagame for the warm hospitality. Inspiring to witness firsthand how the Rwandan people, through resilience and unity turned Rwanda into a beacon of progress and prosperity admired by all. Jordan is keen to advance its partnership with you”, King Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein posted on X formerly known as Twitter.
“Rwanda and the Kingdom of Jordan share the same values and development and focus on peace, justice and security. I hope that our talks will be productive and maintain relations and friendship between the two peoples”, reacted President Kagame.
During his visit in Rwanda, King Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein had a closed door meeting with his hos President Kagame, witnessed the signing of various agreements and memoranda between the two countries, and paid respects to the victims of Genocide against the Tutsi at Kigali Genocide Memorial.
The meeting also covered recent developments in the Middle East, especially the dangerous situation in Gaza because of the ongoing Israeli war, and the tragic humanitarian crisis in the Strip. The monarch thanked Rwanda for its contribution to the humanitarian response in Gaza by sending a plane carrying humanitarian aid.
President Kagame’s last visit to Jordan was in March 2022, where he was hosted by King Abdullah II for a bilateral meeting on discussions enhancing ongoing areas of cooperation in defense and security, especially in fighting terrorism through information and expertise sharing.
In February 2023, Rwanda and Jordan committed to enhancing bilateral ties when Foreign Affairs Minister Vincent Biruta received the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Ayman Safadi, in Kigali. That time, they signed three cooperation agreements and MoUs in political consultations, higher education, health and medical sciences, and visa waiver for diplomatic, service, and special passports.
Jordan is a country in Western Asia, which shares borders with other countries such as Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Syria, Palestine and Israel. (End)
