Rwanda’s President Paul Kagame received MTN Chairman Mcebisi Jonas and MTN CEO Ralph Mupita who are in Rwanda for the 2024 Africa CEO Forum.
“They discussed MTN Group’s partnership with Rwanda in advancing access to technology”, according to the Rwandan State House.
More popular as MTN Rwanda, MTN Group marked last year the 25th anniversary of its operating company’s presence in Rwanda.
Speaking of the company’s entry into Rwanda, President Kagame said: “Who else would have found it easy to invest in a country that had just emerged from our tragic history, as we know it? We both took risks; you took a risk with us, and we took a risk with you, but 25 years later, I believe we can say we are pleased.”
The company says it is continuing to invest in networks and systems in order to broaden its reach and bring the benefits of a modern connected life to all Rwandans. (End)
