This conference will bring together government officials and Red Cross and Red Crescent representatives from more than 35 Commonwealth States as well as legal experts.
The main objective of this conference is to use the framework of Commonwealth to discuss International Humanitarian Law (IHL) issues of particular interest to Commonwealth countries as well as new developments and current issues in the law.
The Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Johnston Busingye, is the key note speaker at the opening remarks session.
Mr. Aimable Havugiyaremye, the Chairperson of Rwanda Law Reform Commission will be part of a high level panel discussion which will tackle the “70 years of the Geneva Conventions: celebrating the achievements and planning for the future”. The panel is scheduled on the first day of the conference, just after the opening ceremony.
In addition, Gen. Patrick Nyamvumba, the Chief of Defense Staff of Rwanda Defense Force will also appear on a high level panel discussion which will discuss Multinational Operations and International Humanitarian Law on Wednesday 12, June 2019 from 03:30pm to 05:30pm. (End)
