A 40-year-old man has been arrested at Muhima computer-based driving test centre where he was attempting to take an online provisional test for his colleague.
Rwanda National Police (RNP) Spokesperson, Commissioner of Police (CP) John Bosco Kabera, said that Jean Bosco Manirafasha was identified by Police officers supervising the tests.
“Manirafasha was trying to do the provisional driving test for one Michel Higiro a resident of Rutunga Sector, Gasabo District,” CP Kabera said.
He warned against such criminal practices. “When you attempt such malpractices, you are looking for a ticket to jail,” he warned.
Manirafasha admitted that he was hired by Higiro to do the test for him.
According to Manirafasha, he was to be paid Frw40,000 and had already received a down payment of Frw10,000.
It was later established that the suspect is a recidivist. He was arrested in 2020 for the same crime and sentenced to six months in prison.
The suspect was handed over to RIB at Nyarugenge station for further investigations.
