Middle-level commanders from RDF Gacurabwenge Training Centre undertake study tour

A group of 75 middle-level commanders and staff from the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) Gacurabwenge Training Centre conducted a study tour, visiting the Kigali Genocide Memorial and the Campaign Against Genocide Museum. The visit aimed to pay tribute to the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

During the tour, these officers received a guided briefing on the genocide’s planning and execution, as well as the efforts by the Rwanda Patriotic Army (RPA), to stop it.

The Chief Instructor at the RDF Middle-Level Commanders Training in Gacurabwenge, Kamonyi District, Lt Col Richard Ndakaza highlighted that the study tour aims to educate and enhance officers’ awareness of the genocide and its impact. He emphasized that learning about history is crucial for preventing similar atrocities in the future.

Lt Col Narcisse Rwamamara, a senior officer in the seminar, described the study tour as an opportunity for participants to gain a deeper understanding of the RPA’s commitment to stopping the genocide and liberating Rwanda.

The seminar, held at the Gacurabwenge Training Centre, brings together middle-level commanders and staff from various RDF units and formations. (End)
