Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Vincent Biruta is in Nairobi, Kenya, for the 43rd Ordinary Session of the African Union (AU) Executive Council.
This two-day meeting will assess various topics, including the Union budget and progress on AU institutional reform.
The ordinary session will run until tomorrow and will include representatives of member states, Regional Economic Communities, Regional Mechanisms and international partner organizations, according to the program released by the AU, based in this capital.
The coordinating meeting will take place on July 16, under the theme of the Union’s year “Accelerating the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area”.
Both meetings will review the state of regional integration in Africa, as well as reports on AU Reform and the work of member countries and their associated structures.
They will also assess the status of the implementation of the free trade area, the 2063 Agenda for the next 10 years, the decisions and legal instruments, the identification of areas of cooperation and the establishment of mechanisms for regional, continental and global collaboration in each sector or sub-sector.
