Kagame promotes army and police officers

President Paul Kagame as the Commander-in-Chief has made promotions in the Rwanda Defence Forces (RDF) and the Rwanda National Police. The president also approved the retirement of 111 Police Officers.

In the army, senior officers were promoted including Fred Ibingira, the Chief of Staff, Reserve Force was promoted to a general and Jacques Musemakweli, the Chief of Staff, Land Forces became lieutenant general.

Twelve brigadier generals were promoted to the rank of major general while some six colonels promoted to brigadier general, 14 lieutenant colonels were elevated to colonel, 68 officers were promoted from the rank of major to lieutenant colonel and other various changes.

The Police also got some changes where 1,015 officers received promotions starting with ten Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACP) made Commissioner of Police (CP) and other elevations in the chain of command.

However, the Police retired some 111 officers in different ranks and the Police leadership thanked those who retired for their dedication and sacrifice in ensuring safety and security of the country.
