Kigali: American model and media personality Tyra Banks has donated one of her dresses for auction to raise $100,000 for solar panels to be sent to Rwanda, the auction organizers say.

Through the new ‘Model Behaviour’ initiative, Tyra Banks (in photo) has joined other top global models – each donating one of their most prized dresses to charity.

The OneFrickinDay charity and online auction site Charitybuzz are organizing the charity auction event. The dresses can be viewed on charitybuzz site until December 7.

"We have asked about 30 top models, including Tyra Banks, Eva Herzigova, Brooke Shields, Elle Macpherson and Christy Turlington to donate 'one frickin dress' they have worn on the red carpet," said Elletra Wiedemann, model and actress, on the organizing team.

It is hoped the auction may raise at least $100,000 to provide solar panels for clinics in Rwanda and Haiti. No details were given as to who the money will be given to, or whether it will be for private groups in Rwanda.

Tyra Banks is known for her syndicated talk-show ‘The Tyra Banks Show’ which airs on several US networks, and distributed across the world.
