Turkish Government increased the number of scholarships granted to Rwandan students. The number of Rwandan students who will begin studying in Türkiye during the 2024-2025 academic year is now 29.
Students were carefully selected by the YTB (Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities) academic delegation who conducted interviews in the campus of the University of Rwanda between 5-8 May 2024. 29 successful Rwandan students will study a large variety of disciplines including medicine, electronic engineering, architecture, agriculture, environment, informatics, political sciences and civil engineering.
Turkish Ambassador to Rwanda Aslan Alper Yüksel commented on the development.
“This increase is another positive sign confirming the progressing nature of Turkish-Rwandan relations. While the number of scholarships granted to Rwanda was only 9 two years ago, last year it was raised to 19 and this year to 29. This trend is also related with the increasing quality of the education provided here in Rwandan schools, as well as the greater number of qualified applicants. This was also recognized during the interviews conducted by the academic selection team”, he said.
The Turkish Ambassador also added that he participated in one of the interviews to observe the contribution of scholarships in building bridges between the two countries. (End)
