Kigali: After its campaign against the genocide ideology in different secondary schools across the country, the National Commission for the Fight against Genocide (CNLG) has taken the campaign to prisons.
It is in this respects that on 13 December 2018, lecture on fighting against genocide ideology were given to inmates in Mageragere prison.
Mageragere Prison houses in total 8791 inmates. Those who are accused of genocide crimes are 1234, including 671 women.
Mr. Claver Gatabazi and Madam Betty Wibabara, employees of the National Commission for the Fight against Genocide, who gave the lectures, expounded to them how Rwandans were united during the pre-colonial period and how Rwanda inherited the divisive ideology from colonialists.
They also explained how the regimes who took over after independence upheld the divisive ideology that culminated into the Genocide against the Tutsi.
They expounded how the Genocide against the Tutsi was masterminded and executed, recalling the deleterious consequences it caused to Rwanda and the globe at large.
After they were given time to ask questions, inmates vowed to take part in fighting against genocide ideology and other forms of divisions among Rwandans. (Fin)
