
Prime Minister Dr. Edouard Ngirente joined residents of Busogo Sector in Musanze District, for the 31st commemoration of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.
Before addressing participants in this commemoration, Prime Minister alongside other officials paid tribute to the victims of the Genocide against the Tutsi from the former Mukingo Commune, who are laid to rest at the Busogo Genocide Memorial.
In his remarks, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of fighting against genocide ideology, which is also characterized by attacks on survivors.
He urged Rwandans not to take their security for granted and to continue prioritizing unity and harmony among families, communities, and neighbors.
Prime Minister also cautioned individuals and foreign entities attempting to sow division among Rwandans, and insisted that Rwanda will never tolerate anything that risks dragging it back into the tragic history of the Genocide against the Tutsi.
The Premier appreciated the dedication and sacrifice of the Rwandan Patriotic Army (RPA-Inkotanyi) in stopping the Genocide and also noted that honoring them means doing our part to build a better Rwanda for the future.
Finally, Prime Minister called on the youth to keep on fighting genocide ideology and denial. In this regard, he highlighted the need for combined efforts by parents, teachers, and the government to instill good Rwandan values in the youth so as to raise a generation committed to peace and unity.
