Kigali: This Friday, Prime Minister Dr Ngirente Edouard received, in his office in Kimihurura, Mr Jens Spahn, the Germany Federal Minister of health who is on a two-day visit to Rwanda.
Their discussions centred on strengthening the existing bilateral cooperation between Rwanda and Germany and particularly on Ebola prevention and preparedness.
Prime Minister Ngirente hailed the long-lasting cooperation between the two countries and commended the German Government’s assistance in Ebola prevention.
“We have very well developed relationship between Rwanda and Germany, which we really do appreciate, and we do collaborate for example in the area of Ebola prevention and preparation that is why we will be signing agreement with the ministry of health of Rwanda to have a more intense cooperation.” Said Jens Spahn, Germany Federal Minister of health.
We also talked about the area of economic development where Germany is very much engaged, we are very much impressed by what Rwanda is doing in the area of migration by taking migrants here, compared to other countries, Rwanda is a country that takes responsibilities, it is actually a good example for us. The Minister added.
The Ministers of Health of both Rwanda and Germany are to sign a cooperation agreement to exchange experiences and training of healthcare workers and construction of the infrastructure meant for infection prevention and control in district hospitals. (End)
