
The Rwanda National Police (RNP) Inter-Units football tournament concluded on Saturday, March 22, with the defending champions, Police Training School (PTS) Gishari beating National Police College (NPC) 2-1 in the finals played at Kigali Pele stadium.
The entertaining match was also attended by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), CG Felix Namuhoranye and his two deputies; DCG Jeanne Chantal Ujeneze of Administration and Personnel, and Vincent Sano of Operations.
PTS Gishari opened the score in the 10th minute as the first period ended 1-0. In the 60th minute, NPC found the net to make it 1-1, but PTS made it 2-1 in the 82nd minute to emerge victorious and to successfully retain the trophy.
PTS booked the ticket to the finals after seeing off the Task Force Unit (TAFU) while NPC eliminated the Automobile Inspection Centre (AIC).
IGP Namuhoranye said that the tournament provides a platform for Police officers to socialize and relax, which helps them to perform their policing tasks effectively.
He thanked all players and teams that participated in the tournament and congratulated the finalists and the winner in particular.
The Police Chief said that this competition will continue to be conducted annually and that more sports disciplines will be added in the next edition as it also helps in sports development in the country. (End
