Prime Minister Dr Edouard Ngirente says that the cooperation between Rwanda and the United Nations has been successful and keeps improving as the Government makes it more aligned with the country’s plans and results-oriented.
He made the statement during the celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the United Nations co-organised by the United Nations and the European Union in Rwanda. The event took place at the Kigali Marriott Hotel.
Prime Minister Ngirente pointed out that Rwanda is collaborating with the UN through a very clear cooperation framework that contributes to Rwanda’s progress towards delivering on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
“Rwanda has integrated and domesticated these global goals in national development strategies such as National Strategy for Transformation (NST1 2017-2024) and our new Vision 2050.” Prime Minister Ngirente said.
The Premier added that in September 2019, the Government of Rwanda started the process of conducting an Integrated National Financing Framework (INFF), a mechanism that will strengthen the Country’s capacities to mobilise resources required for the implementation of the National priorities and the 2030 Agenda.
He further stated that the 75th anniversary of the UN should be a real occasion to renew countries’ commitment to its values and take action to strengthen international cooperation to address future global challenges.
The Head of Government reiterated that without international cooperation and global solidarity, people cannot confront the challenges of today and those coming tomorrow, he added that those common threats will require everyone to come together as nations to find sustainable and inclusive solutions.
Dr Ngirente noted that the Government of Rwanda is fully committed to building cooperation and partnership as a key to accelerating progress towards sustainable development. (End)
