The Governor of Osun State in Nigeria, Ademola Adeleke
The Governor of Osun State in Nigeria, Ademola Adeleke, is in the latest retreat to show that he likes the governance of Rwanda and confirms that it should be a lesson for other African countries that want to develop.
Adeleke said that in order for democracy to be more valuable in African countries, leaders should agree to have transparent elections.
He said: “I am happy to be here; I ask the leaders who live here and those in other countries that we should accept the elections through freedom and transparency. We are the seeds of democracy, so we deserve to have transparent elections”
He added: “I know that developed countries are where they are today because they let democracy work, they obeyed the law. The people should also participate, stand up and protect the way elections are conducted.”
Adeleke said that he believes that the way of democracy can vary depending on the country and that it does not matter if all the activities produce development. He gave Rwanda as an example:
“Democracy in any form should bring development. If democracy does not bring progress, there is a problem in governance. I liked what I saw in Rwanda; there is a great lesson to be learned from it.”
