President Kagame, First Lady cheer Rwanda’s Women team as they thrashed Argentina

Yesterday at BK Arena, President Kagame and First Lady Jeannette Kagame cheered on Rwanda’s Women team as they won 58-38 against Argentina, securing a second victory at the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup pre-qualifiers game.

Hosts Rwanda booked their ticket to the semifinals of the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup (FIBA W.C) pre-qualifiers after handing giants Argentina a 58-38 humbling defeat at the BK Arena. 

Bella Murekatete recorded her second straight double-double, helping Rwanda to 58-38 win over Argentina. The former Washington State University standout finished with 18 points and 18 rebounds in what was her second appearance with the Rwandan senior team at a major competition.

The pre-qualifying tournament taking place this week in Kigali brings together 8 teams from around the world to battle for a place in the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup Qualifying Tournament set to take place in March 2026.

President Kagame and First Lady Jeannette Kagame also attended the game opposing Lebanon and Great Britain. (End)
