This morning in Brussels, President Kagame met with Greek Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis ahead of the EU – AU summit.
President Kagame is in Belgium for the 6th European Union (EU) – African Union (AU) Summit, bringing together leaders of both institutions as well as representatives of their respective member states for discussions on how both continents can build greater prosperity.
EU-AU will be organized into a series of thematic roundtables attended by Heads of State and external guests who are experts in their respective fields, taking place over the course of the 2-day meeting. Today’s Opening Ceremony will be immediately followed by the first session of roundtables.
Roundtables will feature discussions on: peace, security and good governance; health systems and vaccine production; growth financing; agriculture and sustainable development; private sector support and economic integration; education, culture and vocational training, migration and mobility; agriculture; climate change and energy transition, connectivity and infrastructure.
The President will also meet with King Philippe of Belgium.
Heads of State or Government from both continents will also be hosted for a dinner at the end of the first day of the Summit.
Some of the intended outcomes of the Summit include the launch of an Africa-Europe Investment Package which takes into account current global challenges and a joint declaration on a joint vision for 2030.
