Kigali: President Kagame is in Sochi, Russia, where he joins other African Heads of State and Government for the first-ever Russia-Africa Summit co-hosted by President Vladimir Putin of Russia together with President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi of Egypt in his capacity as the incumbent African Union Chairperson. The gathering is also attended by leaders of major sub regional associations and organizations.
The two-day Summit will focus on the current state and prospects of Russia’s relations with African countries and to the expansion of the political, economic, technical and cultural cooperation.
Other discussions will highlight a wide range of issues pertaining to the international agenda, including a joint response to new challenges and threats, and ways to strengthen regional security and stability. A political declaration on the key areas of Russian-African cooperation will be adopted. (End)
