He is scheduled to meet his Ugandan counterpart President Yoweri Museveni over regional trade and security issues. Several other high-profile guests across the continent are attening the event in Kampala.

Kagame’s visit is the first in almost four years when the relations between him and President Yoweri Museveni went south.

The Ugandan commander of the land forces and Senior Presidential Advisor- Special Operations, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, is credited for reconstructing the icy relations between Uganda and Rwanda whose efforts have seen both countries warm up to each other including Rwanda reopening its border with Uganda.

The lieutenant general son of Uganda’s president said last month he had retired from the military, in a move widely seen as preparing the ground for a potential run for the presidency in 2026.(End).
