On Wednesday, 13 December 2022, the President attended the U.S. – Africa Space Forum alongside President Paul Biya of Cameroon, NASA Administrator and US Senator Bill Nelson, and Dr Halilu Shaba Ahmad, Director-General of the Nigerian National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA). Rwanda and Nigeria are the first countries in Africa to sign the Artemis Accords aimed to return humans to the Moon by 2025.
President Kagame participated in a conversation about country experiences with the International Monetary Fund Resilience and Sustainability Trust hosted by the IMF Managing Director, Kristalina Georgieva.
The President took part in a panel discussion alongside Prime Minister Mia Mottley of Barbados, International Finance Corporation (IFC) Managing Director Makhtar Diop, and the Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala. The panel was moderated by Dr Rajiv J. Shah, President of The Rockefeller Foundation.
Later in the afternoon, the President joined Prime Minister Mia Mottley for a meeting with IFC Managing Director Makhtar Diop on Pharmaceutical Equity. The meeting was also attended by Holm Keller, Chairman of kENUP Foundation.
President Kagame also exchanged with Prime Minister Mia Mottley on pharma manufacturing and the Bridgetown Initiative on climate and development; and held talks with President Filipe Nyusi of Mozambique on the existing excellent bilateral ties between Rwanda and Mozambique.
yesterday, the President attended the U.S. – Africa Business Forum which brings together African Heads of State, U.S. and African business and government leaders to advance mutually beneficial partnerships that create jobs and drive inclusive and sustainable growth on both sides of the Atlantic.
Later in the evening at the White House, President Kagame joined a Dinner hosted by U.S. President Joseph R. Biden and First Lady Jill Biden. (End)
