Lusaka: President Kagame, who is also the Chairman of the board of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Centre for Africa, today arrives in Lusaka where he joins his counterpart President Edgar Lungu of Zambia for the launch of the SDGs Sub-Regional Centre for Southern Africa.
The Center is launched by the Government of Zambia in collaboration with the Sustainable Development Goals Center for Africa based in Kigali. It is an international not-for-profit institution which will provide technical support, neutral advice, and expertise to governments, private sector, civil society, and academic institutions in order to accelerate the implementation of the SDGs Agenda.
The Sub-Regional Center aims to assist southern African countries to find solutions to the challenges that hinder smooth implementation of the SDGs.
During the launch, the two Heads of State together with over 200 senior government officials, representatives of international organizations and development financing institutions will discuss the major themes relevant to the implementation of SDGs across the African continent with a special focus on the sub-region.
