President Kagame arrived in Nairobi, where he joins President William Samoei Ruto of Kenya, other Heads of State and Government, and climate change campaigners for the Africa Climate Summit.
The inaugural 3-day Summit is co-hosted by the African Union Commission and the Government of Kenya.
“Africa continues to carry the burden of rising temperatures, despite contributing the smallest share of global greenhouse gas emissions. We cannot just keep talking about it without doing what is required to fix the problem. This is unfair, but in the long run, playing the blame game is not the answer”, said President Kagame.
“A more pragmatic approach is for Africa to be a key player in the search for global climate solutions. Africa stands united and should stay so in this and in its position.” , President Kagame added in his remarks at the Africa Climate Summit 2023.
Inaugural Africa Climate Summit 2023 is focused on the theme, ‘Driving Green Growth and Climate Finance Solutions for Africa and the World’. The three-day Summit, from 4th-6th September 2023, brings together leaders and investors from Africa and beyond to share experiences and solutions for a sustainable, resilient Africa.
The event aims to champion a positive, climate-compatible vision for Africa. Sessions are focused on adaptation and resilience, renewable energy and sustainable development, and financing for climate action. (End)
