President Kagame received the Foreign Minister of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, who delivered a message on behalf of President Volodymyr Zelensky.
President Kagame with Dmytro Kuleba “discussed the war in Ukraine and ways to support peace initiatives to end this conflict”, said the State House in a statement.
“I was honoured to be received by Rwandaʼs President Paul Kagame. Grateful to Rwanda for its solidarity with Ukraine. I reiterated Ukraine’s strong interest in developing relations with Rwanda based on mutual respect and benefits. I am impressed with Rwanda’s economic progress”, reacted Dmytro Kuleba via twitter.
Kuleba’s visit to Rwanda is part of his second African tour. He carried out the first tour in October 2022, when he visited Senegal, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, and Kenya.
The tours are part of the country’s approach to strengthening ties with the African continent, as Kyiv continues its attempts to obtain allies and counter Russian influence in the continent. (End)
