President Kagame receives message from his Mauritanian counterpart 

The message was delivered by Dr. Sidi Ould Tah(left) 

On March 21, 2025, Rwanda’s President Paul Kagame welcomed a special message from President Mohamed Ould Ghazouani of Mauritania.

The message was delivered by Dr. Sidi Ould Tah, President of the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA) and candidate for the African Development Bank presidency, who visited Village Urugwiro in Kigali. 

The elections for a new President of the African Development Bank will take place during the 2025 Annual Meeting, specifically on 29 May 2025 in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.

Official list of candidates for the election of the next President of the African Development Bank :  Mr. Hott Amadou, Senegal; Dr. Maimbo Samuel Munzele, Zambia; Mr. Tah Sidi Ould, Mauritania; Mr. Tolli Abbas Mahamat, Chad; and Ms. Tshabalala Bajabulile Swazi, South Africa.

The President is elected by the Board of Governors of the African Development Bank. The composition of the Board of Governors is made up of representatives of the eighty-one (81) member states, who are usually ministers of finance, planning or central bank governors or their duly designated alternates.
