President Kagame and Chancellor Kurz held a tete a tete and a bilateral meeting where they discussed preparations for the upcoming Africa-Europe High Level Forum (HLF) on “Taking Cooperation to the Digital Age” scheduled for December 18 in Vienna, Austria, which they will co-host. President Kagame also hosted Chancellor Kurz to a Luncheon organised in his honour.

In his statement, President Kagame welcomed Chancellor Kurz to Rwanda and said that they had had productive discussions on bilateral issues as well as partnership between Africa and Europe.

“I am pleased to welcome Chancellor Kurz to Rwanda on his first visit, which is a short but busy visit. The Chancellor and I have had productive discussions on bilateral issues as well as partnership between Africa and Europe. We also discussed the Africa-Europe high-level Forum, an important event which Austria and Rwanda will co-host later this month in Vienna, the reason being that Rwanda is the chair of the African Union and Austria holding the chair of the European Union.”

During the bilateral meeting, President Kagame stated that Rwanda enjoys a strong and productive relationship with the European Union, which Rwandans are happy to continue to build on.

“We are also committed to contributing to strengthening the partnership between our two continents. I had the honour, earlier this week, of receiving your new Ambassador, Dr. Christian Fellner, accredited to Rwanda and we look forward to working with him to build closer bilateral ties with Austria.”

Before his departure, the Austrian Chancellor visited the Kigali Memorial Centre, followed by the 4G Network operation centre, the Cyber Security centre, Africa Olleh Services centre and K-Lab, all at Telecom House. The Chancellor will end his tour with a visit to the Special Economic Zone where he will visit Africa Improved Foods and STRAWTEC Building Solutions industries. (End)
